Kaisei is the studio I founded and run — live at kaisei.studio. It designs and builds considered websites and digital systems for founders and service businesses, bringing strategy, identity, design, development and ongoing care into one engagement.
Context
Small businesses and growing teams often need more than a website, but less than an agency performance. They need a clear point of view, a dependable system, and someone close enough to the details to keep improving it.
Philosophy
Kaisei's direction is shaped by three Japanese design principles: ma (negative space), kanso (simplicity), and shibui (understated elegance). Every layout, interaction and line of code is meant to be deliberate, not decorative.
Services
Four ways the studio engages: brand identity (logo systems, visual guidelines, typography), web design (editorial, Japanese-minimal UI/UX prioritising negative space and structure), web development (React/Next.js, motion and interaction design), and full-build engagements that combine all of it with ongoing maintenance.
Process
A fixed four-step process, run the same way on every engagement: Research (learn the business, users and what the site actually needs to do), Design (structure and visual language, reviewed at each stage), Build (develop, test across devices, refine until ready to ship), and Maintain (keep it fast, secure and current after launch).
Note
Kaisei's own site lists featured work including Big Bean Cafe and Gauge Athletic Club alongside the studio's own identity build. Those don't have separate case studies on this portfolio yet.
Outcome
An active, shipped studio with a defined visual language, a four-part service structure, a repeatable process, and a live site that functions as its own proof of craft.
What's next
Publish dedicated case studies for individual client engagements delivered through the studio, rather than folding them all into this overview.
